This action packed series sees Nick Baker on the trail of the oddest creatures on the planet –some small, some big, and all weird.
Each episodes starts out at the Natural History Museum, where Director of Science Richard Lane and his team of scientists and curators provided unique access to the Weird Creatures team. Visits to the museum were a big part of Nick’s childhood and a major influence on his career as a naturalist and broadcaster. Left to amuse himself on rainy afternoons, he scoured the galleries for the museum’s weirder specimens. One which is still on display in the Mammal gallery is the Pink Fairy Armadillo – the world’s smallest, and most elusive armadillo species. Years later, finding himself standing next to Sir David Attenborough at a museum function in the same gallery, he asked the great man if he knew anything about the ‘PFA’. Attenborough was stumped and the armadillo became one of Nick’s ‘see before you die’ animals.
